American Idol Round 2-The Girls
So here's my take on the girls tonight...Katharine McPhee...This girl would be a star if she sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I do agree it wasn't her best night. I didn't really care for the song choice. I found myself wandering off and not paying attention. That said...who cares? She's a brilliant star no matter what.
Oh, Kermit.
Kinnick Sky...I commend her for her effort. But I just don't think she can sing. She was just yelling it. I'm still having a hard time looking at her. I'm all about the cowboy/cowgirl look...as long as you don't look like a ridiculous horse. Gretchen can pull this kind of high energy rough-riding act off. This is not the real Kinnick and that's obvious.
Lisa Tucker...Again, a talented singer who chose the wrong song. It was just aw-ite. She's capable of blowing me away...but she didn't tonight. She's so young and beautiful...and will go places whether she wins this competition or not.
Melissa McGhee...Gosh, she looks great tonight! She gave it her all...and I think she did pretty darn good. At times she sounded like she was trying a bit too hard...but maybe she had to. Pretty good job, Melissa.
Heather Cox...They are going to say she's boring...unforgettable. I think she's cute. She tried but I'm not sure she did well enough. It wasn't exciting. (Well, I think the judges said she was unforgettable. Sort of. Not those words but that's what they meant.)
Brenna...I don't really care what Brenna does. I don't like her. Kind of like the exact opposite of Katharine. That is the ickiest smile. She's so fake.
Paris Bennett...What the heck is she wearing? I say this every week but that's one little firecracker. She's not rocking tonight but she does Bette with style. She's an angel. Tonight, it's all about song choice tonight.
Ayla Brown...I like the power and the contrasting softness in her voice. I think this is a really good performance tonight. What did Paula mean by the below the knees remark? Huh?
Kelly Pickler...Oh, Girl!!!! Great job! Oh, she's such a doll. You can't help love her. The absolute best tonight!!! Pick Pickler!!!!
Mandisa...Well, that's the first time I got chills tonight. She took that song that and made it hers. She's no Faith Hill. But there's something special about her. She can sing but I'm not so sure it's her vocals that I like so much. It may be the way she carries herself. She's not afraid of being out there...she's comfortable in her own skin...exactly the way she is...and I think that's a cool inspiration to other young women.
Well, I hope we'll get to our hotel by 7:00 pm tomorrow so I can watch the guys. I don't know if we will or not though. I definitely won't get to post about them...or the results...at least until we get back this weekend.
Yall, have a great rest of the week!
Later Dudettes.
