The Magic of Monday Morning...
3:00 AM...Me: Wide awake. Ugh. Sheesh. This has been happening a lot lately. It's like 3:00 AM is the magic hour. I wake up and I'm wide awake until 5:45 AM. At which time, I fall into the deepest sleep of the night. But I tricked my body clock this morning. Instead of allowing myself to fall into that really good sleep, I got up and went help Monkey feed the horses. Now, what I'm about to say is profound...for me. But by sleeping in...I realized I miss a little magic in my day. Now, it wasn't too cold this morning. I slipped on a sweat suit over my nightie...and my boots. (Not a fashion statement at 5:45 AM but hey, I'm moving!) It was nice. It was dark. All my cats came to be fed...and then the horses...start coming up to their stalls to eat. Everything just seems to be in order. It's like a new beginning. I really enjoyed this morning. Not so sure I'd have enjoyed it so much if it had been really cold. But as it was...I actually enjoyed an early morning. Pretty cool for me.Must google...Edith Head and who is Nascar's #42? I've been reading some pretty wonderful French Chic quotes from Edith Head..."You can have anything you want in life if you dress for it." "Your dresses should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady." (If you think completely opposite from those quotes, it's ChooChoo.) I will so be using those quotes in general conversation around my house. And #42...everyday when I'm coming to work...there is a picture of this man at a local gas station. Now, I'm not a Nascar fan and I don't know if the picture I keep seeing is just an attractive one of a icky man. I get really nauseated when I get even a glimpse at Tom Cruise. This guy favors him (in a non-icy way) but when I pass that gas station...I have to smile. Let me make it clear...Tom Cruise grosses me out completely. Ugh.
In an effort to save money, I made instant oatmeal this morning at work. It overflowed twice. I think I put too much water so it resembles oatmeal soup. Sonic is so much easier...and tastes better, too. Two bites and into the trash, it went.
I took my mama to lunch and to Goody's today for her birthday. I bought my mama a pair of purple Levi's (purple is real big in Louisiana...Mardi Gras and LSU colors) and a lighter purple top for her to wear on the Mardi Gras trail ride and parade. The jeans were regular $46 and the top was regular $24. I got them for $9.88 and $7.88. WhoooHooooo! I also snagged a blazer and top to wear for Mardi Gras, too. The top was $1.50 and the blazer was $14.88. I can even wear my stuff to work before and after the ride. I'm just going to dress it down on the ride with jeans (blue ones, mind you.) WhooooHooooo!!! I think I may wear my top and blazer with jeans Saturday when we go to the Myrtles.
Each night that I go to sleep without either pulling my hair out...or bonging ChooChoo in the head...I can say that I'm a good woman. Now...I love that kid. I really do. But she tries me...and doesn't even know that she tries me. You know...after saying that...I don't think yall even want to hear me rant. Maybe it's a good thing that she came to live with us...reminds me that I want to instill certain qualities in my own kid...like ambition, direction, chicness, class...among other things. Being around her makes me more conscious of those things . So maybe it's a good thing. Okay...mini-rant over.
Tomorrow, we start registration. This semester will be a test for me. I will have a class everyday...and homework every night and every weekend. No evening classes so I will be able to get home on time. The key will be to have everything organized so that I can get home...get things done...and settle down with my books. We shall see....but I'm excited to get started.
After recording my spending for a week now, my only zero spending days were Saturday and Sunday. The two days I wasn't at work.
Must work now...later Dudettes.
