Bo gets married, mater samiches, and Pepto bathrooms...
Yep...that pretty much says it all. Well, most of it. This is my life. My exciting life. Uh, that was sarcastic...if you couldn't tell.Somehow, a two-hour drive turned into a five-hour drive. I don't know how. Coming home...I think I made it in less than two hours. It's fun to go away but I sure love coming home. A and I got to spend some time with our cousins. We went to the State Capitol...pretty cool to see where Huey P. Long was shot. I love Louisiana history so it was pretty cool to me. The kids thought it was pretty cool to run around the 27th floor observatory thingie. I didn't. We had lunch at Poor Boy Lloyd's. Little corner diner in downtown Baton Rouge. Really a cool little place with an amazing catfish poboy. Then we caught a sky show at the Science museum...then we saw "Ginger"...a two thousand year old mummy. A was so excited to see the mummy...but it was a majorly freaky experience. Did yall know mummies are dead people? Like...we knew this...but until you see one...it's not something you don't really think about. Majorly freaky. Anyhoo...we got to swim and we cooked out with the family. Then Cuz, A and I went to see my uncle (Cuz's dad). Long story short...my aunt, L and Uncle Bub were married for forty years. I'm not even that old...just so yall know. Then they got divorced. Now they are both remarried. I'm glad that they both have found happiness. Anyhoo...I still see Uncle Bub as my uncle...no matter what happened. I mentioned to Mama that I missed him when we visited and evidently, she mentioned it to Cuz...cause we got to see him. He was thrilled to see A and me. This visit really made my trip.
So we're home.
Let's see...Mama and I painted my bathroom. I'm not sure about the color. It just seems too Pepto Bismally. Maybe it's me. Mama loves it. Of course, it's not really smart to tell me that you don't like it...M did...and let's just say...I didn't take it too well. You know for a man who thinks he's so smart...he says some pretty dumb things. I don't know...maybe when I get some stuff up on the walls...it will look better.
You know you've spent too much time with my mama when you understand what she's saying when she says..."That rag needs to be squzzed out."
The taste of summer....Southern peeps know this. Mater samiches. Take two slices of fresh Holsum white bread (don't even mess up a tomato with brown bread!) and spread Hellman's mayo on both slices. Then slice a mater from the garden (of course, not from mine...cause mine are still the size of peas. But anyhoo.)...a mater from somebody's garden. Salt and pepper...put it together and viola! No amount of "gourmet" cuisine comes close to the heaven that is a mater samich.
While we are on subject of food, one of my new favorite treats...Cascadian Farms Oat and Honey Granola topped Yoplait Light French Vanilla yogurt. This morning...I added a fresh peach from Christybelle's hometown. Well, folks...that's about as healthy as I've been able to get for a while...and friends, I'm just thrilled about it.
Once again, while we're on the subject of food...I've got to lose some weight. I'm feeling pretty out of shape. Not just fat but weak and sore. I could bitch and moan all day long about this...but I'm not. I'm just going to say...I have somewhat of a plan. I am going to call the head of the Health and Physical Education department at work Tuesday...and ask if I can use the pool on my lunch hour everyday. If it's being used during that time, I'll have to resort to joining the Athletic Club that is on campus. For me exercise is about time...if I have a place to exercise at 11:00 am (my lunch hour), I'll do it. But I'm not a morning person and by the time, I get off of work, I've got a million things to do...but I'm at my best right around my lunch hour. I know this...and just have to work with it instead of against it. As far as food goes, I'm the worst dieter in the world. I don't have a clue what to do about diet. One step at a time, I guess.
Tomorrow ought to be fun. I have to put my bathing suit on and wear it in public. Oh, joy. Even so, I'm looking forward going to a cookout and hanging out with some friends in their pool. I like celebrating friendships...I just wish I could do it in clothes. But it's so not fun to swim in clothes.
I hear that my hunny, Bo got married to his long-time sweetheart, Caroline. I'm really cool with this and all. I mean...we have our next life to be together. I'm kind of taken in this one, too. Next life, Bo...it's me and you, Baby. And I'm swear, I'm going to be skinny.
So yall are caught up. Now, I'm heading over to yall's blogs and catch up with yall. Much love!
