What you've all been waiting for...
I know you've all been sitting at the edge of your seats...and checking this site incessantly for my infamous wisdom about last night's American Idol finale. (Do I have to keep on telling yall when I'm being sarcastic...or have yall figured it out by now?) Well, I was too busy BOTING last night. So here's my take on last night's show...which I know you're dying to read! From the first time Bo walked out on stage, I can tell he's not feeling good. After the first song, the fact that Bo Bice is an amazing performer in all situations is written in stone. I love that Bo is a chance taker. He's willing to do things that no other "Idol" contestant has ever tried. This is what will take him down in history as the absolute best that American Idol has ever had to offer. Whether it's singing acappella or singing an original number, he does it with class and style. I liked Long, Long Road...but he did sound a little weak. Bo looks like he's burning up with fever tonight. And after seeing him tonight, I think I am, too. Man, that man is what my dreams are made of. When he spoke to Ryan tonight, he sounded hoarse. This has got to be so hard for him...to be sick on finale night. Even though he's not feeling up to par, Vehicle is wonderful. Thank heavens, the judges like this one better, too. Just in case they have any pull. Bo may be lacking a little bit of that incredible "Bo" energy tonight but just walking out there on that stage is enough to get my blood boilin'! Bo really brought it home when he sang Inside Your Heaven. Dear God...all I could think was...Man, you are my heaven. Heaven just won't be the same without you, Man. I must say it again...This man is what my dreams are made of. Oh, my gosh. Carrie's performance of this song was good...really good. But Bo's topped hers by miles.
As for Carrie...Inside Your Heaven was probably one of her best, if not, her best performances during the whole season. I loved this song. It's the kind of song Carrie does well. Just like Independence Day. Good or bad, this is Carrie. What I think this second song showed was...yes, Carrie can sing. But she has absolutely no stage presence at all. During Bo's second song, his stage personality shows through. No matter how he was feeling, he got out there are ROCKED MY WORLD. Carrie just proved that she has no stage personality at all. "Angels Brought Me Here" was probably one of the most horrendously written songs I've ever heard. Maybe I just didn't listen well enough...but it sounded all over the place and the lyrics just didn't fit together. Carrie is a really beautiful girl. Vocally, she's a dream. But there is so much that Carrie doesn't have YET. Carrie's not ready.
There's no way to predict what's going to happen. The caliber of talent here is amazing. They both are talented, beautiful performers. It's Bo's time. Carrie's younger and has a lot to learn. I predicted way back that Bo will win but Carrie will be a huge success as well. I'm not sure at this point who will win. I do know that no matter what happens, I'll be first in line to buy a ticket when Bo Bice goes on his first solo tour. Tonight is going to be gut-wrenching. Getting to tonight is going to be excruiating.
