The really important things in life...
Yesterday, after church, M and A and I loaded up the horse trailer and headed out to the country for a ride with some friends. It was a day from heaven. We rode our horses through a picture perfect field of wild flowers. I can't imagine a better feeling. The weather was glorious. The wind was blowing gently in our hair. Just perfect! We rode down trails in the woods. Luckily, our horses didn't mind water and mud holes because we rode through those, too. I was riding on Pride (my black and white paint horse) in front of M's prancing parade horse, Buck...and when I got home, it looked like someone had taken a paint brush with brown paint and splattered my whole back. Oh, so what! It was God's dirt! Anyway, we rode for hours...and I was in pure heaven the whole time. We went back to the house and A rode Diva (Lisa's barrel horse) and did sooooo good. I love to watch A ride. She just doesn't know how great she looks on a horse. I'm so happy she likes riding now. She's just never been comfortable. I hope she keeps on practicing and really gets comfortable on a horse so she can feel what I felt yesterday. Lisa cooked an incredible supper for us...steak and sauteed onions, potatoe salad, green beans and potatoes, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, cucumbers and vinegar...probably one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten in my whole life. We helped them feed their horses and then they followed us home (gosh, about 30 miles) and helped us feed our horses. When we fell into bed last night, we were tired but we were as about as happy as humanly possible.I thought about what made that day perfect. It was doing something I love with people the people I love. It was watching my child laugh and enjoy herself. It was seeing my child discover something for herself...something that I've known for a long time. It was being active in nature. It was having good friends, good fun and good food. I am truly blessed beyond words. What made this day perfect were the important things in life.
