If Today was Thursday...

I'd make a Thursday Thirteen list to catch up on what's been going on since my last post. I know I won't be here Thursday and given my love for lists, here's my list a few days early.

1. Monkey didn't have a good check up at the hospital on Friday. He's been scheduled for an appointment at the VA hospital in Houston on Thursday morning at 9:00 am. (This is what the VA considers an emergency appointment...thus the appointment within a week rather than an appointment within a year.) Depending on the outcome of this appointment, he may have to have a second eye surgery on Friday and stay overnight at the hospital. Hopefully, we'll be home by Saturday evening. I'm trying to stay strong and positive. I think the doctors here think a second surgery is necessary but they don't do this kind of surgery here so that's why we'll be in Houston for a second opinion.

2. Ava talked me into going to see Eight Below yesterday. I did not want to see it. I don't like it when dogs die or when people put dogs in any kind of jeopardy. Ava loved the movie. I did not. It was two hours of agony for me. It ended okay...but it was agony getting to that point. The whole time I was in the theatre, all I wanted to do was go home and give my dogs tons of kisses. I'm glad it's over. I will not be watching this movie again. Ever.

3. Ava, Monkey and I went to a horse and tack auction last night. Monkey never really asked us if we "wanted" to go. He just acted all excited because we were off so we could go with him. We did not really "want" to go. I despise running horses through an auction. It's just wrong. I want to buy them all just to save them from owners who don't love them or take care of them. But now is not the time to disappoint Monkey. So went...and pretended to be happy about it. I felt the need to bring a book. But that would have looked stupid. I swear that man is asleep by 9:00 pm every night...but on auction nights, he could stay up til 3:00 am.

4. Monkey and I have been married for 12 years. Sunday was our anniversary. Even though it may not always seem so, I wouldn't change a thing. I love him more today than I did the day I married him.

5. There are so many things that I have to do today. I really shouldn't be sitting here playing on the computer.

6. I've already been outside to feed and I moved Trash to the front pasture. I'm going to put a saddle pad and Anna's little saddle on him today. He loves to play with the saddle pad but I've never put a saddle on him before. It's a baby saddle so it won't hurt him. I've already been to the post office to mail off his registration papers.

7. I have an English test next week so I have to type my test notes today so I can study in Houston. I've got a book (for pleasure), a couple of new scrapbook magazines, my test notes, and a book for my research paper...that ought to keep me busy while I'm sitting in the hospital. I really need to finish my paper, too. Luckily, my professor moved the due date for our paper to March 16 but since I don't know what's going to happen in the next few weeks with Monkey...I want to be as caught up as I can be with my school stuff. Maybe I can finish that up Sunday.

8. I so love being off of work. I got up this morning. Took my bath. Got dressed. Went to feed the horses. Ran a little errand. Now, I'm doing laundry and catching up on my blogging. When I finish this, I'm going to do a few little maintenance things around the house...and work on my homework and go play with my horses. I'm so much more relaxed and I'm a happier person. Why can't this be my normal life?

9. Have yall ever heard of Kimora Lee Simmons? I saw her on the Today show yesterday. How do the beautiful people run big, creative businesses, make just sinful amounts of money, jet set all over the world, raise kids, remain hip and cool, and still look beautiful? Well, guess what? She wrote a book that tells us how. I admit I'm reading it. But it's because I have a thing about the word, "fabulous" and the name of the book is "Fabulosity." It's just a word thing. Really...it is. (Actually...truth be told...this book is surprising the fool out of me. It's amazingly realistic and this author (even though she's a rich celebrity) is an absolutely wonderful inspiration to girls and women everywhere.)

10. What else? Oh, I printed all of my 2006 pictures so I can get my 2006 scrapbook done. I am planning to go to an all day til midnight crop in March and I wanted to get that scrapbook caught up first. I haven't scrapbooked in so long. I want so bad to get back into it. I haven't scrapbooked since Choo Choo moved in with us because she took my scrapbook room...and now everything is in my closet. It's not too easy to scrapbook in my closet.

11. I told Ava yesterday that she needed to clean her toilet every morning...because I can't stand a funky toilet. She said..."I do! I spray Scrubbing Bubbles in the toilet every morning." I said..."Well, it takes a little more than that. You have to swish it with the brush." She said..."No you don't! The Scrubbing Bubbles do it so you don't have to." Good marketing job, wouldn't you say? That Ava...she's a funny kid, too.

12. Tomorrow, I've got to run some errands, pack, and get the van ready for Houston.

13. Even with all the stuff going on, I still remember American Idol is on tonight. I should have everything done and I'll be ready to blog as the girls sing tonight. Stay tuned.

Well, I guess I better go check on Trash, reboot the laundry, fix some lunch, and do a little cleaning so I can work on my test notes.

Later Dudettes. Oh, and happy Mardi Gras!
